Friends in the computer repair business

Comprehensive Computing has been fortunate to be able to partner with many computer repair businesses around the country. This includes 22 shops here in Southwest Virginia to date who outsource various repairs to us. Working together we are building a strong network that can better serve residential and business computer customers than we could individually. The direction in which Comprehensive Computing and our partners are taking our relationships is truly exciting. Together we exponentially increase our options for products and service nationwide. And, it's refreshing to know that most of us in the computer repair industry recognize the value of working together rather than rejecting opportunities on the grounds of competition and territorialism. It's funny how businesses grow when they embrace like businesses and learn from each other! We truly appreciate the opportunities we have been given to grow and learn from you.

Higher prices on computer repair in a bad economy?

With the condition of the economy, we understand that money is tight right now, especially when it comes to computer repair. This has made us even stronger in our resolve to keep our prices on computer repair as low as possible. Many people are finding wiser use of their finances to repair their laptops and desktop computers rather than purchase a new desktop or laptop simply because it's not feasible at this time. But what makes no sense is some repair shops are taking advantage of this knowledge by raising computer repair prices at a time when people can least afford it. At Comprehensive Computing, we will continue as always to offer the most affordable, consumer-aware repair pricing in the computer repair industry. We feel this is integral to being a good business member of our community. And as always, we appreciate our many loyal customers. Thanks for your business!

Gas prices? What about COMPUTER REPAIR prices?

Now let us preface this post with this: each business is entitled to price its own products and services at will. After all, this is one of the beautiful things about doing business in America, right? But, it seems that lately the prices of computer repair have gotten out of hand almost as badly as fuel prices.

In one example, one of the local shops in our area charges an astounding $199 to reinstall your Windows operating system on your computer. No, this doesn't include the price of the Windows disc itself. This is for labor only. Their work may very well be as good as our own, but we charge $70 for this very same service. With the rising cost of gas and food, the average American is already feeling the budget pinch. So, many people are finding themselves priced out of owning a decent working computer when they opt to feed their families or buy gas for their commute to work rather than give in to these shops charging 2 to 3 times more than repair services would seem to be worth.

It is our commitment at Comprehensive Computing to keep our prices as low as possible. Sure, we have bills to pay just like any other business. But we feel that by continuing to offer you the most professional service at fair working class prices we are not only able to meet your computer repair needs, but we are also doing our best to be good citizens by not gouging prices. You will always get our bottom price on anything we do for you at Comprehensive Computing. That's a promise. :-)

Please be careful about incompetent computer repair techs

Now the purpose of this post is not to criticize the average Joe who does computer repair in his basement. Our concern is, however, that we see a large volume of computers (especially laptops) that have been "repaired" by incompetent hands. This is very disturbing. A laptop is a delicately engineered and very expensive consumer product. It's something that you should never trust to just anyone.

We've seen some very crude attempts at repair come back to us because they were, to say the least, unsuccessful. In fact, there have been a few times we've had to inform the customer that their computer was dead -- all because they tried to save a buck and let an inexperienced person try to fix it.

So please ask yourself how much saving $20 is really worth to you. If price is your main driving factor in your decision as to where to have your laptop repaired, check us out at http://comprehensivecomputing.net Although we can't compete with your next door neighbor, we are still the most affordable (but most importantly we're the most capable) option out there. Don't risk what you can't afford!

Laptop DC power jack repair

Repairing (more accurately stated, replacement) of the DC power jack in laptops is our specialty service. Yes, we perform all types of repairs on desktops and laptops alike, but this one is what gained national attention for us. When we started doing this, there were very few shops in the nation who could offer laptop power jack repair. The manufacturers? Well, they were nice enough to offer to replace the customer's motherboard for $300 to $700. How nice. Of course they kept the old motherboard and simply replace the power jack (and call it refurbished) keeping it around until the next unlucky owner of that laptop model sends his or her computer in for the same board replacement.

We offer this repair for less than anyone else with our experience in the field. $99. Yep, less than one hundred buckaroos is all it costs to get the jack replaced in your laptop. Here's a link to our laptop power jack replacement information on our web site: http://comprehensivecomputing.net/laptop_power_jack_repair.htm with more detailed information at http://comprehensivecomputing.net/power_jack_repair.htm

So if you find yourself wiggling the power cord to try to get your laptop to stay on or if your notebook won't power on or charge the battery, you might want to give us a call. We'll treat you the way a customer should be treated -- with integrity and hospitality. And, we'll save you some money, too.

First post

Every blog has to have a first post, so ours will be of an introductory nature. We're Comprehensive Computing, a computer repair center located in Southwest Virginia. Our web site is at http://comprehensivecomputing.net/ if you'd like to check it out.

We actually serve more out-of-state customers than even in our local area, as people from all over the country send their laptops to us to perform various repair jobs. Honestly we never expected this to happen, but it's very cool to say the least. It changed the whole ball game as far as marketing and even customer service.

So our customers were no longer limited to a local scope. We were repairing computers from just about everywhere in the United States. Then, as our business philosophies continued to evolve with our ever-changing business itself, a new element was added. Outsourcing. Small to medium repair shops began to call us about outsourcing their laptop repair jobs to us. Wow! This went from "cool" to "exciting" for us.

This is how we've become one of the major players in national laptop computer repair service. We're thankful to our customers from all over. We're grateful to our outsource partners who trust us with their customers' satisfaction. Most of all, we appreciate the opportunities God has placed in this business.
